Mýrdalsjökull floods

Between 8th and 10th July 2014 small glacial outburst floods happened in the south of Mýrdalsjökull, namely at the rivers Múlakvísl draining Kötlujökull and Jökulsá á Sólheimasandi draining Sólheimajökull.

Conductivity levels in both rivers were higher than normal.

Earthquake activity at Katla caldera was increased in July 2014 (Magnitude > 3).

For photos of the event and a warning due to the release of dangerous gases see an article at the website of the Icelandic Meteorological Office.

For the actual seismic activity in Iceland watch the website of the Icelandic Meteorological Office (www.vedur.is).
